"Beer can chicken" has become quite popular in recent years because (1) the steam and vapors flavor the chicken from the inside cavity out and help keep it moist, (2) upright roasting has been popular with chefs because it's the optimal position to roast a chicken (fat drips away, heat surrounds the chicken 360 degrees, skin crisps up better).

This pan is a truly well made and well thought out solution to a problem. Using a beer can to roast chicken has several drawbacks and complications. The chicken is unstable and can easily tip over. A pan is still required to catch drippings and fat (even in an outdoor grill). You also might not like the idea of an aluminum beer can being inserted into your food and exposed to high heat. Recent studies have linked aluminum consumption to Alzheimer's Disease, for example, and who knows what chemicals or fumes are entering your chicken from the dyes and the can itself as your meal cooks?

With this pan, all those issues are no longer issues. A sturdy stainless steel construction ensures that your bird is held upright and sturdy with less risk of ruining your meal. The rack holds the can and bird in place very nicely. I was surprised just how heftily this pan was built. You can tell where your money went, as the pan is not at all cheap or flimsy as you might fear.

The pan comes with a stainless steel (non-reactive) canister to replace that questionable beer can you were thinking of shoving up your chicken's rear. Another bonus of using the canister is that you don't need to have a beer can handy just to make dinner (although I'm sure that isn't a problem for many people, but for those that don't drink or don't drink on a regular basis, it's a nice plus). Not to mention you can use any liquid you like: including wine, which is very nice indeed. Acids like wine or citrus actually react with aluminum to produce funky flavors (and also help leach out aluminum from the metal), but stainless steel is non-reactive and gives you peace of mind that your food will taste great and that you wont develop some strange disease.

There's also a heavy gauge drip pan to catch all that rendered fat and drippings. This is nice if you plan to make gravy, but equally nice to avoid needing a cookie sheet and preventing flare ups. The pan is very small, which is great for small grills and less clean up, but it's just the right size for most chickens. If you're cooking in an oven, you might wish you might still wish to place a small sheet of foil or a cookie sheet underneath the chicken, just in case your bird is a little on the large side and any drippings miss the pan. I've had no problems so far, though. The pan has two nice sturdy handles for easy insertion and retrieval. It even has a little pour spout designed to make emptying the drippings easier.

Clean up is also very easy. In fact, it is much, much easier than traditional chicken roasting pans (the kind with the slits that let the dripping run off into the bottom and the grease bakes right on). The small size limits evaporation of the juices (they pool up more, so less surface area) so they don't burn onto the pan and make clean up a real pain (not to mention ruin your gravy-making fodder). It's also much easier to fit in my sink to soak. As long as you soak it right after you cook, it's easy to clean and is dishwasher safe anyway.

The only complaint I have is that there were no recipes included in the box. Normally I would just ignore these anyway, but since the manufacturer is a BBQ guru, you'd think he'd at least throw in a couple of recipes for rubs and some suggestions. Eh, no big loss, though. Recipes are freely available online. I just used my pan for tonight's dinner and it came out fantastic. I prepared "Saint Nino's Chicken" (a Georgian recipe in honor of the current crisis) that I printed off Food Network's website. It was one of the moistest chickens I've ever had and the flavors were incredible and proliferated throughout the meat. It reminded me of the results of using a flavor injector (another new toy I recently acquired).

I highly recommend this pan, as I checked out all the other offerings and they all either seemed flimsy, unstable, cheap, or (in the case of the Weber) used a nonstick coating. I'm quite happy with my decision to buy this pan, and I'm sure you'll be satisfied too.

I am about to order some of these champagne flutes as I have the wine glasses and have been very happy with them. I just wanted to comment to the negative reviews that the glasses on first appearance do seem flimsy and pliable but once the wine is in, they are fine. I originally bought the wine glasses for outside by the pool but find I use them all the time and have had many compliments on them as the thumb indentation makes for a very comfortable grip. All in all one has to remember they aren't cut glass but do a great job for what I wanted them for.

Weber 46110001 Spirit E210 Liquid Propane Gas Grill, Black Review

Replacing my 9 year old Ducane, and couldn't be happier. She was one of the good ones, actually made in South Carolina, but this Weber has better temperature control and gets hot! Nice when you're grilling in winter!

Assembly was easy, the firebox and gas line assemble came pre-assembled; you just build the cart and attach the finishing components such as the ignitor, knob cover plate, side shelves and door. Took about an hour and 45 min. The instructions are clear and concise. Needed tools are a #2 Phillips screwdriver and a 7/16ths deep dish socket would be useful for the 8 nuts securing the side table brackets.

Deal maker for me was the heavy cast iron grates. These are exactly the same quality as the $699 E-310 Genesis, just smaller, and they leave great grill marks! (Please see picture).

Even though this grill has 2 burners it gets hot! Up to 550 degrees within 10 min on high. Turn down the temp and it dropped to 400 within a couple of minutes.

A nice feature is the propane tank gauge, which is spring mounted and based on full tank weighing 38 lb.'s. I could tell by feel that my tank was getting low when I picked it up, and the gauge confirmed my suspicion by letting me know that I'm down to a fifth of a tank just with a simple glance at the well-marked hanging scale indicator.

This is the 2013 model, with burner knobs moved to the front, providing more useful work space. If needed the side tables collapse, but still feel very secure and substantial when used in the upright position.

I'm very pleased with my purchase and would recommend this to a friend.

Weber 7513 Warming Rack Review

I purchased a Weber Genesis 2000 BBQ Grill about 9 years ago. By and large it has proven to be a worthwhile backyard investment having produced literally hundreds of meals. However, while very sturdy, the warm-up rack and warm-up basket rusted rather early on. The rust does not come off using the wire brushes typically used to clear off the grill grates. Since we rarely place items like bread, buns and rolls in the the basket without wrapping them in foil first to provent them from burning quickly, the condition of the basket hasn't mattered much. The problem is that this also happens to the warm-up rack upon which we placed burgers, hot dogs, steak, chops, chicken, ribs, etc. Putting foil on the rack is necessary.

I replaced the basket and rack this spring simply for appearances. However, again, after just a few weeks the shine is gone and corrosion is setting in. Since food it being placed on these items, it would be much better if these items were made from non-corrosive metal.

So, if you're thinking of replacing the original warm-up rack and it's still quite sturdy, think twice before replacing; money may be better spent elsewhere... or not.

Weber 6471 Original Stainless Steel Fish Basket, Large Review

I bought this about 3 weeks ago and have used it a few times. I'm very happy with the purchase. My high level summary is this is a great, affordable product that will allow you to execute great, chef quality cooking for your favorite grilled fish recipes.

Let me get my one negative thing out of the way: the clasp that holds the two side of the metal mesh basket together is a little difficult to open when I'm done grilling. I have a Weber Genesis grill that gets anywhere from 400-550 degrees Fahrenheit on the inside, and fumbling with this hot clasp takes a bit of practice when you want to get the fish out and onto a serving platter easily while it's fresh off the grill. But with a little practice I'm getting better at it. Still, use some sturdy pot holders to protect your fingers and don't let the basket slip and touch tour inner arm or anything. Ouch.

Putting that aside, it does a great job with larger fillets and whole fish up to about 2 lbs. I was a little worried when I first opened the box because, unlike other fish baskets, the sides are not really concave when the basket is closed. I was worried the sides would put too much pressure on the fish and squeeze it, especially if I wanted to grill a fillet of something like salmon fillet, swordfish or tuna steak, etc.

Not to worry. The tension gives enough to prevent applying too much pressure. Last night I grilled a 1.4 lb.s rockfish (striped bass) fillet to perfection, still moist and fully cooked inside with nice texture and grill browning on the outside. Less meaty fillets I'd probably still use a grill pan instead, like for example, grilling tilapia for fish tacos. (Can you tell I love to grill fish?)

For whole fish, you can't go too big. IN the past I've enjoyed grilling whole red snapper for example, and I like to go with a fish about 3 lbs. I haven't tried but I don't think that would fit well in this basket. In fairness, not many baskets out there (any?) can handle that size fish. And for longer bodied fish, like rockfish (striped bass), the basket can probably handle a fish close to 2 lbs, not much more. If you;'re inclined to grill smaller fish, like small rainbow trout or something, as individual portions, you can probably get a couple of 1 lb. fish in there, not much more than 1 lb. a piece.

But for what you get, if you know your way around a grill and like to grill fish, this basket will keep you from tearing up your dinner every time you try to turn it over for even cooking or try to remove it from the grill when done. You can cook evenly and create that extra texture that adds so much flavor, while putting fish to plate that's attractive to the eye because you haven't left chunks of it stuck on the grill.

Man Law BBQ Grill light Review

There were no reviews of this light when I first purchased it, so I was a little hesitant, but I took a chance on this light and I'm glad I did! Don't let the lack of a description fool you on this one. So lets get right to it, why did I give this a five star after owning it for only 2 days?

1. I have owned other grill lights and this just looks and feels rugged.
2. Most of the light is constructed of aluminum and rubber, the only plastic is on the head. (not worried if I forget to put it away)
3. It has a magnetic base which is pretty nice
4. Has a strong adjustable screw clamp with pivoting head for uneven surfaces.
5. WIth 12 LED lights you can actually see the entire grill
6. This is not your neighbors grill light.
7. This light is larger than what you may expect from the picture, much larger than I expected.
8. Flexible arm is 2 feet long, so it's out of the way when you don't need it!

I have high hopes for the longevity of this light, looks like this one just might make it.

**UPDATE** 7/12/2013- This light has held up quite nicely. I use it often and find myself using it around the house when i need a free hand and some light. Would give another star if I could.

Char-Broil The Big Easy Cover Review

First off, the black nice looking cover that you see in the picture is NOT what you get.

The color you get is gray, it is not "heavy duty PVC" and I do not know if I would call it a "brush knit lining" on the inside but it is nothing spectacular.

the only 2 good things I do have to say is it does fit the Big Easy perfectly and the vent on the side is nice to let out moisture

As with so many other reviews of this item, I also got the wrong item when it was shipped to me. I sent it back, only to pay a restocking fee. Not happy. When I'm sent the wrong item, I certainly don't expect to pay a restocking fee.
