For price did not expect Honda or equal quality - just wanted some thing to replace my old EM 500 - followed start up directions and engine did start - be careful not to over choke on start up - problem is it does not generate electricity and engine runs eradically - it is not "sound suppressed" in any respect so you will not be using in camp ground or where others are around - filling out warrantee on company website requires purchase address ( do not know Amazon address ) so that did not work well - will attempt another start up and let engine run awhile to see if it lights run light and actually generates - if not, will return to Amazon for credit and try another model. Will update review if it actually works UPDATE - had to replace AC circuit protector ( faulty ) - was more simple than returning - after running for about 1/2 hr at 800W ( 4-200W light bulbs ) load, engine settled out and runs smoothly - easy gas shut off so you can let carb run dry on shut down - starts now with two pulls on rope - just do not over choke when hot. Unit comes in a pretty substatial cardboard box with opposing lift handles - excellent for storing unit while not in use.

Further comment 3-16-13 -- naturally about 13 months after purchase so return not capable or guarantee valid - Generator was used as emergency supply for essential lighting and computer supply during utility outage -- total run time from receiving generator is less than 5 hours, last started 11-12. I always on shut down let unit run out of gas by shutting off gas valve and store gas with proper amount of perservative and change gas out every 3-4 months (CA gas is terrible for storage)

Well - unit does not start now - I did normal M&O and switches are OK as well as replaced spark plug - not flooded - took out spark plug and grounded it out and no spark in plug - so ingition system has a problem. Try and cross reference spark plug from original !! Finally found a match but still would not spark

Since I can not return it and would not trust it anyway in emergency now I just wasted about $400 13 months ago. Problem is I also bought my Daughter a 500i for her camp outfit and wonder about it now.

My suggestion is never buy this unit and put out thge extra money initially for a Honda unit - Honda's have always worked for me even though more money - at least they are dependable and do not fail right after a year guarantee + you can find spare parts easily. What a waste.
