I just bought this solar powered attic fan last month, June 2009, online. It arrived without any issue in a well packed heavy cardboard box. It only cost me $125 to hire a professional roofer to install.

This solar attic fan is powered by itself via direct sun light, cost $0 to run. I choose this unit because I need the 1350 CFM for a large attic near 2000 sf. The motor runs surprisingly quiet, cannot hear the fan noise until within a foot or closer. Its metal case is built to last with very high gauge material. It has a build-in thermometer (maintenance free) and comes with a life time warrantee (parts only).

Off course, 2nd floor is still 3-5 degree hotter than the 1st floor in a hot day; however, the 2nd floor is now much more comfortable in the late afternoon and evening in contrast to what we had before (it was at least 5 degree hotter for the day and wouldn't cool down until mid-night). The difference is significant not just noticeable, IMO. By the way, I had to get in my attic to seal a few air outlets near the ridgeline to improve the air flaw. I have only one concern which the metal casing is not in one-piece construction. I really hope water won't find its way in over time.

I strongly recommend this solar attic fan.

Update: Typical days with 90s I had 75/78 (1st/2nd floor). We just had three days of 100s in a row. When outside was 105, I had 75/80 at 7PM (the worst time) with AC running (controllor is in 1st floor). I am happy I made the right call.

I bought this generator yesterday in preparation for Hurricane Sandy. It's a lot more generator than I need, but I was desperate, and everyone was sold out except the Sears outlet that could only offer me this model.

It's a large machine-- 190 pounds, though the wheel kit and handle makes it relatively easy to move. Once it's set up, most people of average strength should be able to move it by themselves without difficulty. You'll need at least two adjustable wrenches to put everything together. Setup took about 90 minutes with two adult men working on it. Setting it up by yourself would be difficult due to how heavy it is.

The build quality seems good. It's a nice solid machine with pieces that fit together well. The mobility kit (wheels, etc.) is especially sturdy.

Operation has been fairly straightforward. I've never used a portable generator before, but I had the refrigerator and the sump pump running off of it within forty minutes of completing the setup. It started on the first pull. Subsequent starts were harder, though I have found that toggling the choke and pulling the cord with the choke in different positions usually fixed the problem.

I've been troubled by how much gas it burns. The tank holds 5.5 gallons of gasoline. According to the manual this will last eleven hours at half-load. I don't know how this compares to competing models, but it seems like a lot of gas to me. I haven't run it enough yet to know how it actually performs in terms of fuel efficiency. It takes a lot of oil, too. Getting it full required 32 oz. of SAE-10W-30 oil, which is not included.

SUNFORCE PRODUCTS 58050 55-watt Solar Charging Kit Review

It was easy enough to put together after a few logical tries, since the instructions were not great. There are just a few ways to do it wrong and one way to do it right. So it only took a half hour. I somehow felt mislead, that this would charge my auto jump starters (500 amp, 12 v) that I use for light and USB ports when the power goes down. All I got it to do was run its own inverter. That hummed, but didn't power anything, not even a teeny electric clock, but then again maybe you are supposed to do that from a charged battery, to be fair to the manufacturer. They could have given a lot more info considering this is not a cheap system. It was not a dark day, but not the brightest either. I tried it over two days. I later dug up on the web, (not their site!) that it may charge some small batteries in a reasonable time, but not these Stanley or Duracell type battery backups/jump starter/power stations, via the 12V attachment they provide, unless they had weeks and weeks of direct ideal sunlight. So if you want it to charge small things, go for it, it was kind of fun putting it together I have to say, but it went back. It was a good intro though, I think I just need many more watts, maybe 300+ to do what I wanted it to do. The problem is those are very pricey. I was disappointed. I wish before you buy, they would have a list stating how long in good sunlight it takes to charge various different type batteries. It would save a lot of returns. None of them seem to do that, they just show pictures of them hooked to batteries, leading you to think maybe a day or so would do it. I am sure this is good for small batteries or ipods, cell phones, etc. so didn't give one star, but gave just two due to lack of real time charging information before ordering. Like approximately how long for a rechargeable AA battery, how long for a cell phone, how long for a marine battery or backup battery.

30Jun12, Alexandria VA, Champion 46515. After researching propane, natural gas, 3-fuel type generators found the Champion generators. Read all reviews and they made me a believer. The unit arrived 3 days after placing the order in mid-June, surprised at its small size. Quickly installed the spark arrester, wheel kit, and stored unit for testing upon return from 5-day hike on the AT. On 29Jun severe storms hit the area knocking power and cell phone service off. I rolled the new unit out, grounded it, added oil (exactly .6L), added 2 gallons of fuel, turned fuel valve to "on" position, flipped the ignition switch to "on", choke lever to "choke", and pulled the cord as recommended. The darn thing started immediately as many in their reviews had indicated. Placed the choke lever to "run" and waited a minute for the unit to warm up. Plugged 1 refrigerator and unit changed RPMs for a couple of seconds. Plugged a second refrigerator and the RPMs went up for about 30 seconds and then back to normal. The unit ran for two full hours powering two 22+ cubic feet refrigerators without a hiccup. Amazingly quieter than your run-of-the-mill generator. I stood 20 feet from the unit and could clearly hear my neighbors non-Champion 5K units at plus 50 feet and 200 feet respectively. I am already getting questions on the unit from the other non-generator neighbors. This is definitely my best generator purchase ever.
