I bought this generator yesterday in preparation for Hurricane Sandy. It's a lot more generator than I need, but I was desperate, and everyone was sold out except the Sears outlet that could only offer me this model.

It's a large machine-- 190 pounds, though the wheel kit and handle makes it relatively easy to move. Once it's set up, most people of average strength should be able to move it by themselves without difficulty. You'll need at least two adjustable wrenches to put everything together. Setup took about 90 minutes with two adult men working on it. Setting it up by yourself would be difficult due to how heavy it is.

The build quality seems good. It's a nice solid machine with pieces that fit together well. The mobility kit (wheels, etc.) is especially sturdy.

Operation has been fairly straightforward. I've never used a portable generator before, but I had the refrigerator and the sump pump running off of it within forty minutes of completing the setup. It started on the first pull. Subsequent starts were harder, though I have found that toggling the choke and pulling the cord with the choke in different positions usually fixed the problem.

I've been troubled by how much gas it burns. The tank holds 5.5 gallons of gasoline. According to the manual this will last eleven hours at half-load. I don't know how this compares to competing models, but it seems like a lot of gas to me. I haven't run it enough yet to know how it actually performs in terms of fuel efficiency. It takes a lot of oil, too. Getting it full required 32 oz. of SAE-10W-30 oil, which is not included.
