Purchased this awesome generator primarily for tailgating at sporting events and concerts, but also for camping trips throughout the year. In the past month I have used it 3 times and each time I do, I wonder how I ever lived without one.

Pros:

-Small Compact with sufficient power
-Runs quiet, you can still have a good conversation within feet of it.
-easily powered multiple radios, heater, cell phone chargers, small appliances which makes it perfect for tailgating!

I'm a big food Network fan and my favorite guy is Alton. What I saw on one of his shows was the most awesome advice for this device. Take ONE, that's right, ONE piece of newspaper and sprinkle a few drops of vegetable oil on it; then put it under your chimney starter (outdoors, please, eggman if you're reading this) and fire it up with a full can of any kind of charcoal. You won't believe how well this works. One more thing; DO NOT set a chimney starter on a gravel driveway when you start it. For some reason, the heat transfers much easier through gravel than concrete. Just put the thing on your grill grate and wait for 20 minutes. You'll have smokin' hot coals that will be almost too hot for smokin' food. I even saw Alton searing tuna on top of one of these things.

CDN DTQ450X ProAccurate Quick-Read Thermometer Review

This is the new version of the CDN Proaccurate Stainless Digital Thermometer, which is very well reviewed on Amazon. That model (DTQ450) has been discontinued and replaced with this model (DTQ450X). This is the first quick-read thermometer I've owned for cooking. If you don't have a quick-read, I highly recommend it. Traditional thermometers can take up to a minute to read temperature. This CDN model provides a temperature reading within about 2-3 seconds. That is extremely convenient compared to a traditional thermometer. The form factor is fairly nice. The thermometer is small (6.5" long), and the readout is not too big, maybe a little larger than a quarter. The buttons are easy to press and the readout is easy to view. The stem is made of stainless steel and it feels fairly solidly built. It can be switched between metric and English units as well.

When actually using the thermometer, don't stick the entire stem into your food like I did for a week. It will give you an inaccurate reading. Just place the very tip of the stem in your food about 1/2" in and it will read. The only possible problem I can see with this is that you might not be able to check the temperature in the very middle of your food if you have a thick piece of meat.

Weber 7553 Premium Cover for Weber Genesis Gas Grills Review

I just received this from Amazon (not a third-party reseller) last week, and am happy to report that Weber has listened to their customers and stopped with the vents.

This cover is form-fit for my Weber Genesis S-320, and other Genesis 300 series grills. It looks great, and the velcro straps (which are now placed where the vents are pictured) keeps it from blowing off my grill. The material is quite dense, and the quality of the stitching is very good.

Having seen some of the cheaper covers that aren't much more than tarp stitched in the shape of a grill, I was happy to spend a few bucks more. It isn't cheap, but you get something high quality that makes your grill look nice even when it isn't being used.

I used to own the Weber 7552 Cover, which I had on my old Genesis Silver B, and after three years, the thing still looked nice when I sold it, without so much as a loose stitch (though it did have the wonky vent over the handle). This cover feels like it's even higher quality. Totally worth it, as far as I'm concerned.

Taylor Classic Instant-Read Pocket Thermometer Review

There may be better instant read thermometers out there, but this has always done the trick for me, whether it's testing the water in baking bread or quickly finding out whether a roast is done. Its slender needle goes into hunks of meat quickly, and the whole thing is light enough that, if you are concerned that your burgers on the grill are properly cooked, you can easily put this in your pocket as you head to the back yard. Small note of caution for other dummies like me: the dial is under a plastic window, and so the whole thing should not go -in- the oven. For that, you want a meat thermoeter with a glass face.

I do a lot of smoking and have tried quite a few products. Kingsford Match Light is very easy to start, however it adds a terrible taste to meat and quite honestly makes me wonder about health repercussions. I have tried lighting charcoal with light fluid, which works ok and just has the same problems as Kingsford Match Light. I have spent time lighting charcoal with newspaper and a chimney, which works very well, except for all the burnt paper that goes all over the place. I started using Weber's Light Cubes a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier. For starters they light charcoal faster than any product I have ever used. They burn very clean and do not ash like paper does. I do not see myself ever lighting charcoal again without these cubes. These cubes are perfect for light charcoal.

Maverick ET732 Long Range Wireless Dual 2 Probe BBQ Smoker Meat Thermometer Set With DBTech Meat Temperature Magnet Guide Review

I did a lot of research before buying this device, but now that I own it, I love it. I use it with a Big Green Egg (BGE) to smoke foods. To do it right, you really need to not keep opening and closing the lid. There is a built-in dial thermometer in my BGE, but I have no way of knowing whether it's accurate or not since they have a reputation for being inaccurate, sometimes by as much as 50 to 100 degrees. By using one of the dual probes to monitor the BGE internal oven temperature and the other to keep track of the meat, chicken or pork, I know exactly what needs to be done to maintain the temperature as well as when the meal is cooked.

Many of you who are experienced BBQers know that there is often the famous "stall" that happens when cooking low and slow. It will look like the meat has reached a certain temperature and won't go any higher, even though it will if you're just patient and leave it be. That means that it is difficult to cook by time alone on any smoker, including a BGE. With the second probe monitoring the meat, you can watch it hit the stall point and then confidently wait while the meal continues to cook and it reaches the correct internal temperature.

The probes are easy to use and set-up. The oven temperature gauge attaches to the wire grill with a special clip. The other control inserts into the meat exactly the way any internal cooking gauge does. You'll need to read the instructions to understand how to pair them and that each button means, but it took me all of 5 minutes to unravel the whole thing. I admit that I'm good with technical things, but this really isn't a difficult item to master.

Now that I have this product, I can't imagine cooking without it. I think it gives me much more control over both the oven temperature and making sure the meat is to the temperature I want for maximum tenderness. Highly recommended.

The first thing you need to know is DO NOT BUY THE WEBER BRAND COVER! Everything the reviews say about it is true! The vents are directly over the side tables and water comes right in. Weber makes a superior grill but their grill cover is substandard.

The Veranda grill cover is perfect! Heavy duty material, quality construction, covered ventilation areas to prevent condensation and looks good.

I bought the Weber Genesis E-310. For all those Weber owners wondering if they should get the medium cover or large cover, get the medium cover! I bought both and tested both. You won't be disappointed with the large size, but the medium size fits better. Don't worry, the medium size will NOT be too tight. The large size hangs over the side table ends a little bit more than the medium and because of this it probably sits a little closer to the ground. But with the medium size, all the seams line up perfectly with the grill table ends, top lid, and under grill storage cabinet. It sits low enough to the ground to completely cover the entire grill, but not look like you've thrown an oversized tarp over it. The medium size probably sits about 2 inches from the ground. the large size, probaby an inch and a half.
