I bought this before Hurricane Sandy and fortunately I didn't lose power. I can't say how well it works other than it fired up the first time and I ran it for a few minutes and plugged in a couple things to make sure that it worked. It was worth the piece of mind and seems to be a well made product. The list on Amazon stated that it would run for 11 hours at half load but the manual says 8 hours, I a little disappointed with this as it was one of the selling points. Still happy with the generator though
