Kipor IG2000 2000-Watt Inverter Generator Review

I recently purchased this unit to power my side by side refrigerator/freezer a few lights, 50" plama and my satellite receiver in the event of a power outage. I currently have natural gas ventfree logs for heat and gas water heater so all I needed was TV, food and light- not necessarily in order of importance.

First, my refrigerator is a GE energy star pulling about 500 watts,my plasma pulls 550 watts along with several lights and it had no problem at all. I did some testing to see how it would handle my 1875 watt hair dryer which it did with ease. Then I added to the hair dryer one 500 watt shop light-no problem. Finally I added another 500 watt flood and still no problem need less to say I was very impressed.

I had studied carefully the following brands including Honda,Yamaha,Subaru and many others before finally settling on the Kipor. Kipor is relatively knew to the market and I had my own reservatons about the name. When comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges, Kipor has the quality look and feel just like the Honda EU2000. It also is very quiet just like the Honda. If only I new it would last like the Honda. However,the Kipor comes with a 2 year warranty and with the $350 I saved I was willing to take a chance.

Kudo Solar Case with HDMI for iPad2 / iPad3 - Blue Review

As an original participant through the Kickstart program, I have used both the original LilyPad and the subsequent Kudo Pad. Because I received a copy before they went public, I have had mine for several months. I have the light blue case, and find that it looks nice, and holds up well, in spite of the many hours I have spent using it.

Without the case, my normal usage on my heavily used iPad is only about 5 hours. As the pastor of three churches, my iPad IS my office, and I very much need it constantly. Prior to having the Kudo, I would have to have my iPad on a charger for much of the day.

My usage with the Kudo case varies, based on what I am doing, but it is always a minimum of 2 1/2 days. This includes about an hour of movie watching per day, and a significant number of hours doing research on the Internet, plus using Bluetooth accessories, and a few games of scrabble each day.

However, on a recent trip, I strictly used my iPad for audiobooks, about 12 hours per day. Since I didn't have WIFI, I had it on airplane mode. During the trip, it sat on the seat next to me, in the sunshine. After 2 1/2 days of travel, both iPad and case were still at 100%.

The good:
The case totally encloses the iPad. I have actually accidentally dropped my iPad on more than one occasion, and was very grateful for the case. It is a piece of armor!
The length of time it stays charged, especially when I have loads of sunshine
The fact that it charges my iPad while I use it
Very good magnetic cover works well
Made with recycled materials
If I have a cord along, I can use it to charge my iPhone.

The not so good
It is not an easy stand to deal with. OK for widescreen, not so good for reading
A bit heavy - it doubles the weight of the iPad
After a few months of use, one of the legs broke
When the cover is closed, and you are using the iPad, it does not charge (or anytime it is locked)

So why do I give it five stars? Because I have found nothing better. It protects and charges my iPad without wires, and I never, ever, have to worry about it.

Every Sunday morning, I put my iPad into the case and travel to three churches keeping all of my notes in front of me. During this time I drive 80 miles and conduct services at three churches. At the end of that time my case is down by 25% and my iPad is at 100%.

While I enjoy my 5700mAh External Battery Power Bank 360 Degrees Rotating Stand Case Holder for NEW iPad, iPad 2 3G Tablet, and Ipad 3 - Purple, the mere fact that it requires a cord to connect the battery in the cover to the iPad makes it a bit more difficult. Still, it is a cheaper alternative if the cord isn't an issue, and it doubles the life of my iPad. I use it at home on days when my usage is lighter.

Your own usage will determine what works best for you, but I really do love mine. I am often stopped and asked about it by others, who are quite impressed by the look and concept.

I bought this last year after the big northeast snow storm of 2011. Anyway I did a lot of research and finally settled on this one. Key featurs for me were 1) something powerful enough to power my furnance, frig, lights, sump pump, water heater etc., rated @ 5500 watts (surge rated @ 6875 watts) this was exactly what I needed 2) electric start in case my wife needed to start it in my absence 3) automatic throttle so it would not use lots of fuel 4) automatic low oil shut off 5) not too noisey 6) Wheel kit so I could easily drag it out of my shed 7)something less than $700.

Anyway, I purchased it for $649 and it was shipped free thanks to prime. Fast forward one year later after Hurricane Sandy, I am using this to power my house along with a Reliance Transfer switch that I installed myself and I could not be more happier or comfortable, which prompted this belated review. The one only negative was that the battery did leak a little during shipping and the frame corroded a little as a result. No biggie, I simply sanded it off and repainted it with flat black spray paint. I contacted the Mfg and they instructed me to buy a battery locally and they reimbursed me for it. In summary for the price I paid, you can't find a better generator with this many features. Even at it's current price of $779, I still would recommend it.

PowerSwatch Urban/Jungle Survival Kit Mobile Solar Charger Review

Picked this up on a whim a couple of months ago and used it camping and working in the park. If you have need for a solar charger I am not aware of a better option.

The product is sturdy and well made. The green canvas is stiff and feels solid. I have not been easy on it and see few signs of wear and tear. My original shipment did not come with the suction cups as they were left out. It took me a month to get around to writing the manufacture (SunWarrior) asking about it and they were overnighted to me. I was surprised how quickly they resolved this. The suction cups add a layer of space between the batter pocket and the solar panel. Given I did not put those on for a while (my fault) I have some surface scuffs but it does not seem to impact performance. This unit comes complete with all of the adapters and cables you need.

The panel seems to charge well but small variations in angle impact charging capacity significantly...suspect this is the case with all solar panels.

I purchased the urban jungle kit with the battery. My battery (has an internal LED flashlight) would charge to about 50% and then the flashlight would turn on...this effectively kept me from getting a solid charge. I called the manufacturer who answered directly (no helpless agent). I started describing my problem and the person immediately stated that while he had not heard of any issues it would be best if he just sent me a new battery overnight. I think it was the first time I had ever talked a vendor out of such a high level of service as I explained that there was no need to go through the expense of overnighting...I was in no hurry. The new battery arrived in short order and have not seen the issue again or had much chance to test it. It seems to be fine. This new battery came without a cumbersome RMA process without return credits or return shipping...they simply just solved the problem in the best way they could to minimize my impact.

I don't write a lot of reviews but this company is exemplary in its level of service...I plan buying from them again as I expand the number of solar panels.
