Reliance Controls TRC1005A Panel/Link 12-Circuit 100 Amp Utility/50 Amp Generator Transfer Switch For Up To 12,500-Watt Generators Review

I installed this unit at my home and it works well. I installed a 50Amp input receptacle on the outside of the house and tied it to this transfer switch. I have all the critical loads needed on it. The breakers it needed were easily found at my local home improvement store. The conduit and other misc. materials I needed to tie it to my main box were also easily located.
Working in the box was easy. There is enough space for wiring and the box is strong. There are enough knock-outs to run several different wiring configurations.

Product Description

Honeywell 20 Watt Roof Mount Solar Attic Fan Help reduce energy usage by exhausting hot air from attics by using a solar powered attic fan. Reduce potential mold and increase roof life by exhausting moist air. A whisper quiet 24 volt motor is powered by an industrial grade 20 watt solar panel that is thermostatically controlled; if the conditioned space reaches 85 degrees, the motor turns on, and once it cools to 65 degrees, it will shut off. Unit will condition up to 1850 square feet. Powered by solar energy, there is zero cost usage, and it does not require an electrician to install. The durable Grade 5 ASB shroud is impact and UV resistant. Shroud and panel are adjustable to maximize sun exposure. Oversized galvanized & powder coated flashing resists rust and protects against leaks. Wire mesh keeps unwanted rodents out. Limited 5 year warranty on the fan and 20 year warranty on the solar panel. May qualify for federal and/or local tax rebates.

Honeywell 527SHON104BLK 20-Watt Roof Mount Solar Powered Attic Fan Review

Product appeared well built, and installation was fairly easy.

The fan had pretty good power and was fairly quiet. However, the complete solar panel has to be in direct sunlight in order for the fan to have enough power to turn on; there is no reserve battery in the unit. I called the customer support number of Quality Craft in Canada, the manufacturer of the fan, and they confirmed that the entire cell has to bein direct sunlight.

I was pretty happy until we got our first sizable rain storm. I found the fan was leaking in my attic, with about a drop every 4-5 seconds. I knew my installation was not the cause of the leak. When the rain stopped, I went to my roof and took off the entire hood (4 screws). With a spray bottle, I found out that the leak was coming from the seam between the sheet metal flashing and round shroud of the fan. The seam was not rivited, and it did not look like it was spot welded nor soldered, so my guess is that it was probably glued. Regardless of how it was fastened, it looks like the paint was the only thing that kept the seam waterproofed. I did not actually find the pinhole, but I proceeded to seal the seam with a commercial grade brush on rubber (similar to the 3M spray on rubber you can get at Home Depot). After the rubber dried the next day, I tested the seam extensively again and again, and the leak was gone. It's held up after several more big rainstorms, so I am 100% convinced that it was a defect in the product that caused the leak. I think it is a good product for the price I paid, but the manufacturer and Honeywell need to have a quality control process implemented for these products. I probably just got a bad unit, but the damage would have been great if I did not catch the leak early.

New Carburetor Carb with lever choke for Dewalt Generac Honeywell Sycamore Honda Loncin Generator Review

I ordered this carburetor AND a Generac Brand replacement carburetor from Gen-Parts.com.

This carburetor was $38.96 with free shipping. The carburetor from Gen-Parts.com was $64.30 with free shipping.

Upon receiving both carburetors, which arrived within a day or two of eachother, I closely inspected both for differences. I removed the float bowl and inspected the float and float valve in each carburetor. I inspected the ports, linkages, wiring, and general hardware. I found both carburetors to be ABSOLUTELY IDENTICAL, even down to the soft phillips head bolts that secure the carburetor bowl, which I strongly recommend changing to stronger hex head bolts.

For the ultimate test, I installed this carburetor on my Generac 5500, and it works perfectly.

So considering that fact that: I've observed them to be identical, that this carburetor works as intended, that this company also sends you a fuel line ($6.70) and fuel line clamps, and costs $25.34 less, I highly recommend this carburetor.

Please note that you will still have to buy two gaskets, one that mates the carburetor to the engine, and the other that mates the air intake to the carburetor.

SunSaver 6 Charge Controller 12V 6A Review

This unit is a sturdy, well designed unit with good documentation. I use it in my travel trailer with a 43 watt panel to charge both a sealed (Optima) battery and a flooded (Interstate) battery. Normally, that selection would be made with a shunt that is provided, but I have set it up with a switch instead of the shunt, so I can change from the flooded mode (14.4V) to the sealed mode (14.1V), depending on which of my two batteries I'm charging. LVD (low voltage disconnect) is not required in this application. I've been using this controller for about 2 years and have been very pleased.

Sunlinq Portable Solar Panel Charger 12W 12V Review

I recently purchased this Sunlinq 12 foldable solar panel to charge up my Tekkeon MyPowerAll 3450 battery pack while out backpacking. When I connected this panel to my voltage meter I was getting about 15 volts and 900mA under full sun. This is plenty of power to juice up any of my gadgets that are able to charge via 12-volt cigarette adapter. It charges my Sony PSP, my daughters Nintendo DS, powers my GPS unit, cell phone, my MP3 player...just a great piece of kit to have in an emergency situation when there is NO electricity or hook-ups. The panel itself is very light and made of good quality and folds up nice and small. I recommend using this solar panel with the Tekkeon MyPowerAll 3450 battery (to store all your power) and make sure to also buy the Tekkeon Sunbooster adapter for the battery pack which allows the solar panel to charge the battery much faster and efficiently. Great product!

Champion Power Equipment 46517 3,500 Watt 196cc OHV 4-Cycle Gas Powered RV Ready Portable Generator With Wheel Kit Review

The generator was received in good condition with fast delivery. The unit started on the second pull, however the idle seemed slow. When hooked to the trailer it would not run the converter and the micro wave together. Contacted Champion and was connected with problem solver / technician Paul.He took me completely through the generator, one section at a time, checking and confirming that there was not a problem. We concluded the problem to be slow rpms. He advised me as to how to correct the problem and set the unit at the right rpm. Paul did a great job and has a good knowledge of his product.. Great little generator.
