The product was compact which made it difficult to use, they provided a knock out that was poorly cut, the leads needed to go to the plug were very short and needed to be added onto, needed to add a transition box, so while attempting to open the box one of the screws was blind bolted with no way of removing, the leads to the six switches were so tight most came off when opening the cover, the cover could only be roved on an angle - don't think it was worth the price.

The unit is sound & with the honda engine ........ Its a no-brainer. Now then, Dewalt's design of the fuel tank resulted in covering up the oil fill port of the engine. So much so that if you dont have a tube connected to a funnel, you will NEVER fill the engine with oil. Just poor design on Dewalts part especially with unit which cost as much as this one. So in closing, great job honda with a fantastic engine. Dewalt, stick to making tools & stay away from generator design....my grandmother could design it better.

Generac 5700 GP6500 8,000 Watt 389cc OHV Portable Gas Powered Generator (CARB Compliant) Review

Who would have thunk, a generator from Amazon! This unit is heavy, so two people needed to load / unload from vehicle. Once the wheels and handles are assembled (easy) it is very easy to move around. Filled with synthetic oil or you can use the standard oil it comes with, put a little gasoline in the tank to test, set the choke and it started in one pull. Unit is well built in the USA with quality materials so first impression is good, should last a long time.

Update to my review on this Generac generator: We got hit by the October 2011 Nor'easter, power got knocked out right away when trees overloaded with snow began to snap over power lines. Perfect time to check this generator out. Wheeled it outside (put well away from home) hooked it up to my panel with approved generator connection (have a licensed electrician to do this for you ahead of time, don't wait until power is out, too late) fueled it up, set the choke, one pull and it started right up. Flipped the switch to energize the outlets on the front panel and voila, power! I had water, heat, refrigerator, microwave, lights and dishwasher, power in select outlets for TV, satellite dish and laptop (DSL knocked out for a while but returned well before the power did) and enough power to run heavy (12 Gauge) extension cords to run two refrigerators in neighbors' homes. Ran for 6 days, 24 hours a day, stopping machine only to refuel (must shut off to refuel!) Fuel consumption was about 5-6 gallons every 12 hours. I am very happy with this generator, it performed flawlessly. I have recommended it to many people.

Honeywell HW5500 6,875 Watt 11 HP 337cc OHV Portable Gas Powered Home Generator Review

I researched generators heavily before finally settling on this make & model (Honeywell HW5500). We have a large detached structure on our property that consists of 4 rooms, 2 full baths, and a 3 car garage. The purpose of the generator was to provide emergency back-up power to the garage, guest apartment, and all appliances in the event of a storm (hurricane). The biggest concern was a commercial 230v A/C wall unit that was rated at 24,000 btu. Several of the larger generators could certainly power the A/C wall unit; however, fuel consumption, storage, and re-fueling becomes a logistical issue with the larger gas generators. We needed a unit that could reliably cycle the large commercial A/C compressor and run continuously for 8+ hours at a 50% load. The generator was ordered on Amazon with free shipping, no tax, and arrived in less than 1 week. The generator required about 1 hour to assemble the portability kit and came with clear instructions. My only complaint was there were two (2) washers missing from the wheel kit so we called Honeywell and the service department advised the items were backordered and would arrive in 2-3 weeks. The first test consisted of connecting the 230v A/C wall unit directly to the generator (this required an electrician to fabricate a custom plug and adapter). The generator successfully started and cycled the compressor which cools the entire guest apartment. Then we moved forward with installation of a Reliance manual transfer switch and power inlet. The generator can now be connected directly to a power inlet which feeds into a manual transfer switch connected to the electrical sub-panel that controls all the circuit breakers for the structure. The generator is able to power the A/C, refrigerator, chest freezer, water heater, TV, DVD, and all lights. We are extremely impressed and I would highly recommend this machine for anyone seeking an emergency portable gas generator.
