Hey Folks,Just thought to throw in my 2 cents on the Powerland PDL6500E LPG (propane) genset. Our operation is off-grid in a remote location and the unit is one of our primary power sources. As an experienced mechanic I selected this product because propane units last 2-3 times longer than gasoline ones, reason being is the fuel is much cleaner and hence develops far less carbon material during combustion. Oil changes and spark plugs go considerably farther in their duty cycle.
It's a great design (American engineering) that's manufactured in China. We've been running it every day for 9 months, sometimes 3-4 hours straight to power our equipment and charge batteries. During over 500 hours runtime we've burned out a switch, a panel light, and a circuit breaker. Warranty covers parts, not labor, for a year and the California tech center is toll free; keeps office hours; quite knowledgeable; has everything in stock; "doesn't argue over ten"; and gets it to you quick, which is all my kinda style. After a few fuel-mixing bugs that had to be worked out because of our high altitude locale, it's run flawlessly. Per usual, these single cylinder engines inherently shake as it's spinning at 3600 rpm, so one has to be aware of that and it'd be good to have a handy person around to check things if you're running a lot. Know that the overhead valve adjustment specs are critical to ensure ease of starting, so you wanna periodically stay on that, it's not hard to do. As far as the sound level, it's actually not too loud, for all that's going on in there.
We would purchase more of these units as necessary. One thing I would recommend in some cases is you might consider a set-up such as ours, where we patched it into our main propane tank (one removes that backyard portable bottle pressure regulator on the incoming hose as it's not then needed), so it's now more of a stand-by unit and we don't have to use all those 20 lb. bottles (4-5-6 hrs. running time) that many commonly do. You could always change over to the portable arrangement when you wanted to. So, in summary, this is definitely a solid consumer value, that is, in a world that has plenty of questionable equipment.
