Cummins Onan RS20A 20kW NG/LP Standby Generator Review

Please research this company before you buy. The tech support is not knowledgeable at all with this particular unit. I finallly got to the supervisor and she told me that I voided my warranty because I did not use Cummins to do the install. I had my generator professionally installed by licensed electricians and gas technician. My warranty says "must be installed in accordance with Cummins" not "must be installed by Cummins". I had the remote control panel go bad so I wanted to file a claim on it. My local Cummins dealer said I needed to have them do an inspect and turn-up operation by them before they would cover any warranty claims. The quote for just the inspection was $900. The rest was already done. I can buy a lot of repairs for $900 so I purchased the control unit myself and gave up on the warranty claim. Please keep this in mind when purchasing a generator. There unit is already on the high side and there is no warranty unless you want to pay for it by using Cummins to install the unit. BTW their install will be about four times higher than any respectable company in the area.

***UPDATE*** I got a call from a Cummins representative last night after reading my review and he cleared everything up about the warranty. He said my local Cummins dealer was NOT correct about the requirement that Cummins must install the generator. He was knowledgeable about my generator and said he would clear everything up.
