Unit arrived damaged, generator end cover was bent and a number of the vent louvers were mashed closed. Also a fitting between the gas tank vent hose and the air cleaner was broken. Since there is no service available in my immediate area, I reopened the vent louvers, then found that the cage interfered with removal of the air cleaner cover. Had to pry generator back and to the side to get cover off. Replaced fitting with one from hardware store. Installed wheels and feet. Noticed generator rested on only one foot, checked mounting bracket that attached feet, and found one leg 1/4 in. longer than the other, put 1/4in. stack of washers under shorter leg. Put in gas and oil, started generator, it seems to run ok. Suggest you keep oil container to measure future oil changes. Also suggest you call your local service provider to verify that they will do warranty work on internet purchases. The generator I receiver was packed in a manner to make damage likely. The engine and generating unit appear to be well made. Checked voltage under load using two 1500 watt electric heaters. No load, 124 volts at 62.9 Hz; 1500 watt load, 117.7 volts at 62.5 Hz; 3000 watt load, 113.8 volts at 61 Hz. Load changes produced several seconds of surging or hunting as governor compensated for change, at 3000 watts the engine seemed to be really laboring.
