The customer relations at Generac are terrible. Their knee-jerk response is to blame you if you have a problem with your generator. The voltage regulator in my portable Generac (XG6500) failed twice after less than three hours of service. When I informed Generac of the problem, they said no way would they send a replacement. I told the "case coordinator" that my generator was wired into our house circuitry through an outside inlet leading to a transfer switch, and he said their portable generators aren't designed for that purpose and are only supposed to be used with ordinary extension cords! So why does it have a 4-pronged, 30 amp receptacle? It isn't just me who has issues with this company. At the very least, check out the Better Business Bureau web site in Wisconsin and ripoffreports.com, and see how many people have filed complaints with them about Generac's products and warranty. Their attitude is that you agreed to our crappy warranty when you bought it, so now you're stuck with it. They make you feel powerless.
